Welcome to WREN
WREN is a not-for-profit business that helps benefit the lives of people who live close to landfill sites by awarding grants for community, biodiversity and heritage projects.
Our directors and staff are fully committed to enhancing the community environment, natural conservation and heritage aspects of the world in which we live and create a beneficial and lasting legacy for future generations.
We have changed how we fund community projects and now have a single programme, the FCC Community Action Fund. In addition future applications for funding will need to be made via our new online application process which will be launched in late July. The next deadline date for receipt of applications to the FCC Community Action Fund is 4 November 2015.
Changes to how tax is collected and accounted for in Scotland means the Landfill Communities Fund has changed
From 1 April 2015 landfill tax generated in Scotland is collected and managed differently and as a result the Scottish Landfill Communities Fund (SCLF) replaced the UK scheme as at that date. There is a two year transition period during which contributions already made must be spent and grants have been provided in Scotland from those funds. However, the last date for applications from Scotland to access those funds was 8 July 2015 and we will no longer accept applications for funding from Scotland under the UK Landfill Communities Fund.
WREN will be operating the new Scottish Landfill Communities Fund and further details will be announced later this summer and we hope to have the new SLCF application available for projects to apply later this year.
