WHAT WE FUND
WREN focuses it’s funding on community-based projects which come under Objects D / DA & E of the Landfill Communities Fund Act:
The provision, maintenance or improvement of a public park or other public amenity in the vicinity of a landfill site.
For example - Village halls, children’s play equipment and skate parks, village greens and public parks, community gardens, woodland improvements, cycle paths and nature reserves
The delivery of biodiversity conservation for UK species or habitats
For example - delivery of identifiable elements of site based habitat management activities in the context of a BAP and/or LBAP; reintroduction programs to a specific habitat; Management planning for nature conservation where this is directly linked to a specific habitat or species at a specific project site
The maintenance, repair or restoration of a building or other structure, which is a place of religious worship or of historic or architectural interest.
For example - Buildings of all religious denominations, buildings or monuments of architectural or historical interest, which are listed, eg windmills, scheduled monuments, listed buildings and structures
All WREN projects must:
Be located within WREN operating areas (use the e-mail form if unsure)
Be available to the general public
WHAT WE DO NOT FUND
WREN has its own funding criteria and policies on what it will and will not fund and it is not WREN policy to fund the following:
- Purchase or lease of vehicles
- Projects located at libraries
- Core costs (non project specific overhead costs)
- Projects involving Membership-only organisations where the general public (i.e. non members) are unable to use their facilities.
- Projects under Categories A, B, C, CC and F of the LTCS
- Projects located on private land unless the minimum public access requirements are met
- Category DA projects unless the minimum public access requirements are met
- Any work relating to car parks
- Projects in the grounds of hospitals, hospices, day care centres or residential homes
- Any works to public highways, roads (either on or off project site, adopted or unadopted) pavements beside highways, roundabouts or any street furniture and lighting
- Village or Town centre enhancements such as walkways, street works or signage.
- Projects located on allotments
- Charity buildings, offices of charities, citizen advice bureaus, advice centre head offices.
