Determine eligibility

The Challenge is open to community regeneration projects which will breathe new life into tired or rundown facilities or provide much needed new amenties.

You can apply for between £75,000 and £250,000, but WREN must be the major funder. WREN will accept applications for 100% funding as long as Third Party Funding has been sourced.

In order to be eligible to apply for the Challenge you need to answer the following questions:

  • Is your project situated within 10 miles of a landfill site in one of the following areas:
  • Bedfordshire
  • Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes
  • Cambridgeshire
  • Cheshire
  • Conwy
  • Cumbria
  • Derbyshire
  • Edinburgh and Midlothian
  • Glasgow and North Lanarkshire
  • Halton and Warrington
  • Humber (includes North East Lincolnshire and North Lincolnshire)
  • Kent
  • Lancashire
  • Lincolnshire
  • Norfolk
  • North & West Yorkshire
  • Northamptonshire
  • Nottinghamshire
  • Oxfordshire and Berkshire
  • South Yorkshire
  • Suffolk
  • Warwickshire and West Midlands
  • Wrexham
  • West Glamorgan
  • Is your organisation able to demonstrate strong community support for the project?
  • Is your organisation a not for profit group with a constitution.

If your project is not eligible to apply for the WRG Communities Challenge you may still be able to apply for a grant through the WREN Grant Scheme.
