New WREN Chairman takes the reins

The role of Chairman of the WREN Board passes to existing director Mike Rutherford BSc (Hon), MBA, FRSA, following the retirement of John Marsh.

Mike, as Chairman of the Bishopscourt Group and formerly a Group Director of Liverpool Victoria Friendly Society, is a proven entrepreneur with a wealth of marketing and commercial expertise.

“John leaves us having established WREN as a successful, effective and low cost organisation with a strong management. We are committed to maximising the funds and funding opportunities available for quality projects within the remit of the Landfill Communities Fund. We need to raise awareness of the tremendous success of the LCF and WREN’s key part in that success. It has enabled people to implement valuable local projects, which improve their environment through the hard work and commitment of communities working together.

Our cost effective organisation, coupled with focused, effective management of funds and projects are key to WREN’s future; firstly to meet government priorities for the LCF ;secondly to respond positively to government and local authority waste strategies designed to reduce landfill and therefore the funding available within the LCF scheme. I look forward to working with our board to meet these challenges.”
