WREN Chairman and founder bows out
John Marsh has retired as Chairman of Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd (WREN) after 11 years at the helm. John launched WREN in Norfolk in 1997 and has successfully steered the not-for-profit business as WRG has grown. To date WREN has committed over £110 million of funding for over 4,000 qualifying community and environmental projects in areas where WRG operates.
He said “The most common question I am asked is “why do I want to leave WREN?”. It’s not an easy question to answer, nor is it an easy decision. I formed WREN in July 1997 and if it can be said I am part of WREN it is also true that WREN is part of me.
However, both for WREN and for me it’s the right time to pass the Chairmanship on to a new person who will bring other skills to bear and instill fresh ideas to guide WREN’s future progress. I take comfort from the fact that WREN is in excellent shape”
John Marsh is succeeded as chairman by businessman and WREN Director, Mike Rutherford.
Mike Snell, WRG General Manager of External Affairs, commented: “John Marsh has done a remarkable job in ensuring that WRG’s landfill tax credits have been administered effectively and wisely over the past 11 years. He has been utterly single-minded in his efforts to ensure that every penny of our landfill tax credits has brought real benefit to people’s lives in communities across England, Scotland and Wales.”
