Bowled over by success
Over the last few months there has been a comprehensive refurbishment of the main hall which included new ceiling tiles and ceiling insulation, new floor covering to the main hall, bar and cellar area as well as the showers and gents toilets. There are also new access doors, new windows to the front of the club, as well as painting and decorating - all of this was funded by WREN to whom we are extremely grateful.
The gents’ toilets have been segregated from the showering facilities, which will enable Ladies Cricket to be played more frequently at the club, and we are pleased that Leicestershire Ladies continue to use the club. These alterations have also been funded by WREN.
A new bar has been installed and good progress has been made with the drinks and glass storage areas behind the bar, which is expected to be complete by the end of September this year. Improvements to the chiller room, including improved insulation, will enable the club to stock beers for longer and greatly improve the environmental aspects of cellaring beers.
Community room before .....and after
The very much improved clubhouse facilities will be of great benefit to all playing and social members together with the members of other affiliated groups and once again we thank WREN for their kind support.
Anyone who would like more details about this vibrant village facility should visit the club website – www.empinghamcsc.com or call the club on 01780 460 696 and leave a message.
Cheryl Raynor, WREN’s grant manager for Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, says: “We are delighted to be supporting the Cricket and Social Club project and pleased that our funding will provide such a fantastic facility for local people. WREN is always happy to consider grant applications for projects that make a difference to local communities and we are delighted to see this one open for community use."
