Chirk Non Turf Practice Facility
CHIRK Sports Association and Cricket Club has expressed delight at its "magnificent new facilities".
County councillor Terry Evans said that the upgrading project had got under way thanks to the dedication of Tim Flack who is the club's chairman, groundsman and coach.
The overall project cost about £25,000 and the money came from a variety of sources, including £15,500.00 from WREN, group fundraising, donations from Kronospan, AVOW (Association of Voluntary Organisations in Wrexham), and EAFRD (European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development).
The highly impressive new facilities include a two-lane astroturf nets practice area, a professional bowling machine, two sight screens and a pitch cover.
Cllr Evans said that he would like to thank everyone who contributed to the fundrasing and paid tribute to the dedication of Tim who devoted so much time and effort to the club.
The facilities were officially launched by Glamorgan's director of cricket Matthew Maynard who delighted the cricketers by also going through a number of techniques and signing autographs.
