Double Dose Of Success In Cambridge Village!

The village of Haddenham received a double dose of Christmas cheer this week, with the announcement of grants for two local projects.

Two different applications - two different projects - one village. Haddenham has been awarded grants to two projects at the latest round of grant awards by WREN, which is quite unusual.  A project at the social club to upgrade their toilet facilities has been awarded £9,310 and the Parish Council have secured £35,000 for improved children’s play facilities.

The latest Grant Awards by WREN for Cambridgeshire have now been announced, totalling £118,110.  Other projects which also received good news are the Townley Memorial Hall at Fulbourn, who have been awarded £49,800 for a new sports hall extension, and March will soon see exercise equipment installed at West End Park, after Fenland District Council secured £24,000.

Sarah Gosling, WREN Grant Manager for Cambridgeshire, explained: “It isn’t very often that a village sees two applications supported at the same round of meetings, but each project we support is unique, and we are pleased to have been able to provide funding to all these projects.  It is the individual community benefits that make their projects stand out. All of these applicants have worked hard to develop their project before applying to WREN – they’ve done all the hard work and deserve the end results. ”

During 2011, WREN has awarded £387,712 to 14 projects across the county, four of which have been completed already.
