CASH FROM RUBBISH HELPS COMMUNITIES FLOURISH!
A total of 4 projects across Kent have been boosted with £26,500 in the latest round of funding from the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme money of Waste Recycling Group Ltd, distributed by WREN.
The following projects have benefited:
Southborough – Barnetts Wood enhancement £10,000
Faversham Guildhall £2,500
Hadlow – St Mary’s Church £4,000
Otford – Methodist Church Hall replacement £10,000
The grants made under the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme (www.ltcs.org.uk) look to improve community life by enhancing existing facilities as well as providing new facilities, including play areas & village halls. In addition historic and religious buildings can also receive funding for restoration work.
Sue Sheppard, Project Manager with WREN, explained: “Projects applying for grants from Wren are assessed by an individual panel of locally based experts in each county for their suitability, sustainability and community benefit and support. The Landfill Tax money of Waste Recycling Group has, since 1997, boosted over 3000 individual projects across the UK with well over £80 million in funding.”
There are now just four weeks to go until the closing date for applications (July 31st) for the 2005 Waste Recycling Group Village Hall & Community Centre Challenge which will see three communities each collecting £250,000 towards a refurbished or brand new village hall or community centre. Two runners-up will each receive £125,000.
