CASH FROM RUBBISH HELPS COMMUNITIES FLOURISH!
A total of 14 projects across Nottinghamshire have been boosted with £426,199.35 in the latest round of funding from the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme money of Waste Recycling Group Ltd, distributed by WREN.
The following projects have benefited:
Beckingham & Saundby Village Hall Modernisation - £45,000
Burton Joyce & Bulcote Village Hall Improvements - £10,870
Clifton - Holme Pit clear water project - £43,980
Coddington - Community Centre - £50,000
Edwinstowe - Village Hall Improvements - £4,020
Kirby-in-Ashfield - Multi-Purpose Community Space - £25,000
Kirklington - Village Hall Improvements - £46,000
Linby - St Michaels Church - Living Stones project - £9,000
Nottingham Quakers Meeting House Refurbishment - £50,000
Nuthall - Railway Cycle Route - £50,000
Oldcotes - Pinfold Project - £3,828
Rolleston - Community Centre Regeneration Project - £26,501.35
Southwell - Baptist Church toilets - £12,000
Sutton-cum-Lound Village Hall - £50,000
The grants made under the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme (www.ltcs.org.uk) look to improve community life by enhancing existing facilities as well as providing new facilities, including play areas & village halls. In addition historic and religious buildings can also receive funding for restoration work.
Penny Beaumont, WREN Project Manager, explained: “Projects applying for grants from WREN are assessed by an individual panel of locally based experts in each county for their need, community benefit and support, sustainability and value for money.”
There are now just over two weeks to go until the closing date for applications (July 31st) for the 2005 Waste Recycling Group Village Hall & Community Centre Challenge which will see three communities each collecting £250,000 towards a refurbished or brand new village hall or community centre. Two runners-up will each receive £125,000.
