WREN funding provides brand new play area!
The regeneration of South Lynn will soon be strengthened by a new children's play area, thanks to a £45,000 grant awarded by WREN. Work on the £90,000 play area will start later this summer, and will provide stimulating exercise opportunities for children.
South Lynn has been the centre of wide-reaching regeneration projects including St Michael's school which will open in September 2010. On the same stretch of land will be a football pitch, MUGA and children's play area.
Sarah Gosling, WREN Grant Manager for Norfolk, explained: "WREN is committed to supporting projects that have a real impact on communities and we’re delighted our funding will go towards these wonderful facilities. Play areas are an important part of building community spirit and this one will give children and their families a fantastic space to get outdoors and have some fun."
Cllr Jason Law, Cabinet Member for Regeneration at the Borough Council of King's Lynn & West Norfolk, said: "In these difficult financial times, this funding is a welcome boost which will enable us to provide a much-needed facility for South Lynn's growing community.
The grants made under the Landfill Communities Fund look to improve community life by enhancing existing facilities, including play areas & village halls, as well as providing new facilities. Funding is distributed by WREN, and is donated by Waste Recycling Group, who operate the landfill site at Blackborough End.
