WREN Grants early Christmas wishes in Cambridgeshire!
There will be shouts of glee from a handful of villages around Cambridgeshire this Christmas, with the news of £89,288 of WREN Grant funding awarded to their community projects. Waterbeach Parish Council’s project is a new youth building, which will replace their existing dilapidated and extremely small youth club, which will also serve as a community centre for various groups and organisations. At Sawston, they are replacing a derelict sports pavilion, which will offer changing rooms and a community room for hire by the general public. Alconbury are improving their existing play area by adding exciting equipment chosen by the local community, and at Holywell the Parish Council are improving the state of their village green by the river. These projects have been boosted with grants of between £8,500 - £30,000 in the latest round of funding from the Landfill Communities Fund of Waste Recycling Group Ltd, distributed by WREN. In total, grants amounting to £390,220 have been awarded during 2009 to various projects across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
