WREN Wins Top Green Apple Award For 2009
On June 29th WREN received three, highly prestigious, Green Apple awards at Hampton Court, London as project promoter for their eco community building at Hill Holt Wood Lincolnshire.
The building is an exemplar of sustainable construction and renewable energy and is a partnership between Hill Holt Wood, their architects Simons Design and Lincoln University with WREN as the principal funding body.
The project had already been recognised as an outstanding awarding winning environmental scheme, having enjoyed a visit from HRH Prince Charles earlier this year and WREN considered it to be an ideal candidate for a Green Apple Award.
The Green Apple Organisation clearly also considered it a highly significant project awarding it gold for Best in Category (Community Buildings), Best in Sector (Built Environment) and Overall Winner For 2009.
The project was up against a large array of national and international schemes including major civil projects and schemes from large multi nationals and local authorities. To have been selected as the overall winner is an outstanding achievement and underlines all the support that WREN has provided and our commitment to the environment in the area of community buildings.
