Cranfield - Broad Green Play Area
Cranfield - Broad Green Play Area
Cranfield is a rapidly expanding village that is situated within the Marston Vale, Bedfordshire, a couple of miles from Brogborough Landfill Site. Broad Green is a large, triangular area of grass between main roads in and out of Cranfield, and it is here where the play area sits. The play equipment was worn and falling into disrepair and so the local Parish Council applied to WREN for funding. Any equipment that could be salvaged and kept was, including items of themed play such as various obstacles set in a large circle, surrounding the main equipment. This invites children to try and circle the whole area without touching the ground.
The play area is divided by a pathway into two, one area for younger children and one for older children. It was towards the older children's equipment that funding was sought, along with funding towards a pathway from the entrance to the field to the play area. The project was awarded £18,171.00 in June last year.
The Parish held a grand opening of the Broad Green Play Area in May. It has been enjoyed by the local children ever since!
