Gorebridge - Birkenside Pavilion Refurbishment
The newly upgraded Birkenside Pavilion marked the 50th project funded by WREN north of the border. The Pavilion is the only community facility in the area, so by increasing its scope, the project has make a huge difference to the local community.
A grant of £24,000 contributed to extensive improvements which included enlarging the community hall area; extending the kitchen; installing new toilets suitable for all abilities; a new emergency exit and redecoration.
In addition to regular get-togethers of elderly folk with activities such as tea-dances, other events have included a Youth Café and a children’s magic show. The project had widespread local support, and since its completion the feedback has been very positive, with everyone rating the new facilities as excellent.
