Little Warley village hall

Little Warley village hall

This project is a continuation of the refurbishment and upgrading of the Village Hall, which started in 2003. The Village Hall comprises of the main hall which is the original school building purchased by the village in 1962 and built over 80 years ago. To the rear of the main hall was a timber extension being the gent's toilets and storage.

The hall is the centre of their community, and is in constant use by a number of groups - playgroup, WI, art club, sub-aqua club, operatic society, quizzes - and many more individual lettings.

Work carried out in 2003, to re-roof the hall and rewire the electric system, was completed with a WREN grant of £22,000. Other works carried out since include central heating, a new kitchen and refurbishment of the hall floor.

The new extension provides new disabled facilities, including toilets and entrance ramp, and also a secure storage for tables and chairs. It is a vast improvement on the previous toilets, which will be removed and the area used for a meeting room in their next phase of works.

WREN funding of £30,000 was awarded to the new extension, which cost in excess of £100,000. The new extension was formally opened by the Mayor of Brentwood.
