Application Guidelines

Applications for Church projects in the East Riding of Yorkshire will not be accepted for where the only purpose of the building is religious worship. This type of project must apply directly to the Yorkshire Historic Churches Trust to which the Advsiory Panel award an annual Block Grant.

Project applications for work on Church Halls and Church buildings directly are accepted in the East Riding of Yorkshire, but only where the primary use of the building is community and not religious worship. (By primary use we mean that no more than 49% of the footprint of the building is designated for religious worship).

Project applications for work on Church buildings directly in North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire, need to be directed to the National Churches Trust (NCT). The contact at the NCT is Alison Pollard (Grants Manager) on (0207) 6006090 or email alisonp@nationalchurchestrust.org

Project applications will be accepted for work on buildings that are a place of religious worship that are not Christian.

The panel will not support project applications from a single sports facility that operates a Membership policy. To support a single sports facility project application there must be clear evidence of wider community use. The Entrust interpretation of wider community use is that the facility is being used by at least four other organisations or community groups not associated with the single sports facility.

Consideration will be given to projects requesting pump priming (no agreed funding in place), however this will be looked at on a project by project basis. Where the project involves multi-funders, clear evidence should be provided of which funders have been formally approached and also provide clear time frames for outcomes. In order to gauge whether first funding will be provided applicants must provide timescales for the delivery of the project.

Sustainability

Applicants should be encouraged to consider the environmental impact of their proposed project, energy efficiency, the use of sustainable materials and processes in line with the WREN Green Guide. It may help your application if you can provide evidence of how you have considered these elements?

Consultation

Applicants should carry out appropriate community consultation to support their proposed project. Consultation should include existing users/user groups, potential users/user groups, residents who live close to the proposed project and members of the surrounding communities.

Financial Sustainability

Any project that will rely on the generation of income in order to be sustainable in the future must write and submit a business plan with their project application. This must include both a forecast of what the future estimated maintenance costs for running the facility will be and a forecast of what forecast income they project raising.

Evidence of Self-help

No maximum percentage of funding is set, however some degree of self-help is expected. 100% funding will not be awarded.
