Market Weighton War Memorial Playing Field Upgrade
WREN awarded: £29,200 towards the purchase and installation of new play equipment and safety surfacing and the War Memorial Playing Field in Market Weighton, East Riding of Yorkshire.
This project involved the upgrade of the play equipment and play surfacing on the Council owned War Memorial Playing Fields. The intention was to create integrated play for children in the town from 0-12 years to increase the use of the facility and assist children's social and physical well being through play in a safe secure environment. This has now been achieved and the play area is well used by the local children.
Through funding from the East Riding of Yorkshire Council through committed sums, part of monies given by new developers in the area, and from Market Weighton Parish Council and from WREN the War Memorial Playing Field has seen a number of improvements. These improvements include new fencing to improve aesthetics and improve health and safety, signage, play equipment and the installation of new safety surfacing built to current regulations and standards.
