Chalk Parish Hall

Chalk Parish Hall

The Parish hall at Chalk was a collection of rooms, which were added on since originally being built in the 19th century. There were a number of issues, mainly in that each extension was on a different level to the previous, and the efficiency of the building was making their maintenance cost high. That, combined with the need for larger rooms and multi-use facilities, gave them the opportunity to look at a total rebuild.
They accomplished fundraising in excess of half a million pounds, mainly from their own fundraising efforts, but also received a number of grants and loans. WREN gave a grant of £20,000 in 2006.
Work commenced in June 2006, and just one year later, the Duke of Kent carried out the official opening of the Parish Hall, which was well-attended by all the existing user groups, who gave demonstrations of how they each used the facility.
The new building contains a main hall, kitchen, toilets, and a number of other smaller rooms, which can all be utilized independently of the other, thereby offering the multi-use facility they dreamed of.
