Moulton Windmill Restoration

Moulton Windmill Restoration

Moulton Windmill is a Grade 1 listed building and when fully restored the windmill will be the tallest windmill in the Country and the only one with disabled access. The Moulton Windmill project was started in 1998 and is open to the public 4 days a week, all year round.

The restoration of the mill house was completed in April 2006 - after undergoing general renovation, provision of interpretation, creation of a tearoom and disabled access. Now the Trustees are embarking on the restoration of the Mill back to full wind power, something not happened since 1894 when the sails blew off in a great storm.

WREN funding of £35,000 will enable the installation of the “Reefing Gallery” a unique control mechanism for operating the sails. With the Gallery in place the Trust will then be able to proceed with installation of the sails and make the Mill a fully operational unit powered by the wind.
