Marham play area

The community which surrounds the RAF base at Marham has seen a renewal of their children’s play equipment on a number of sites. Marham Community Support Squadron put forward an application on behalf of the community, as part of a £350k project to meet the needs of the children in their community.

WREN funding of £29,757 was put towards the play park at Sandringham Avenue, which was previously underused and uninspired. The project design was developed with the cooperation of the community’s children and has concentrated on providing dynamic and up-to-date play facilities for the 8–13 yr age group. Following consultation exercises, it became clear that the children wanted new facilities which were more daring and exciting for them to use. The new development provides up-to-date themes on the classic ride designs in addition to an exciting 25-metre long zip wire. A central net climbing frame, combination seating / climbing / sliding apparatus, as well as imaginative spinning designs, fill the remaining area.

Other works within the overall project included improvements to the community centre, and a new multi use games area.
