Horton Grange - Community Centre

The local communities of Horton Grange celebrated as the Grange Interlink Community Centre seven year dream, finally become a reality.

The £3.2 million regeneration project is a purpose built Community, Health and Leisure Centre in the heart of a deprived inner-city district in Central Bradford, which incorporates a four court sports hall, fitness centre, café, day centre, youth club, ICT training suite and crèche.

Due to its history and local roots the Community Centre holds an important place amongst the local community which was evident from the willingness of the local people to be part of the project and their enthusiasm to work together and improve the area for everyone.

It is hoped that this new development will rejuvenate the area and help tackle issues within the society by uniting communities and eliminating social exclusion. It will become the focal point for the social, recreational and health needs of the people as it addresses the lifestyle issues that are the cause of many of the problems within the area.

Centre Manager Imran Khan expressed his delight at the new complex as he stated “It is a wonderful day for the community. The new centre is going to make an enormous difference to the people of Horton Grange as it will provide fantastic services.”

The scheme was made possible thanks to a £50,000 grant from the Landfill Tax Credits of Waste Recycling Group (WRG) administered by WREN. The money went towards the creation of a fully equipped multi-purpose activity room. Victoria Mager, Project Manager for WREN commented “ This is a remarkable new facility for this community, bookings are already flooding in for the centre and it is firmly rooted as the heart of this community. The WREN North & West Yorkshire Panel have already held one of their quarterly recommendation meetings in the building and were very impressed with the work that had been achieved here.”
