Application Guidelines
Applications may be accepted from organisations which operate a membership policy; however this must not be restricted to membership only. A lettings policy should be in place and there must be clear evidence of wider community use, ie the facility is used by a least 4 further organisations or community groups not associated with the applying organisation.
Applications from museums will not be accepted.
The Advisory Panel Members agreed that they will not accept project applications for work on Church buildings where the only purpose of the building is religious worship. This type of project must apply directly to the Yorkshire Historic Churches Trust to which the Panel award an annual Block Grant.
The Members agreed that they are happy to accept project applications for work on Church buildings where the primary use of the building is community and not religious worship. (By primary use we mean that no more than 49% of the footprint of the building is designated for religious worship).
The Advisory Panel Members agreed that they are happy to accept project applications from Cathedrals as these are not covered by the work of the Yorkshire Historic Churches Trust.
Sustainability
Priority will be given to projects that have considered the environmental impact of their proposed project, energy efficiency, the use of sustainable materials and processes.
Consultation
Applicants are expected to have carried out appropriate community consultation for their proposed project with existing users/user groups, potential users/user groups, residents who live close to the proposed project and members of the surrounding community.
The consultation should demonstrate local support for the proposed project and also outline how the need for the work was identified.
Financial Sustainability
Any project that will rely on the generation of income in order to be sustainable in the future must write and submit a business plan with their project application. This must include both a forecast of what the future estimated maintenance costs for running the facility will be and a forecast of what forecast income they project raising.
Evidence of Self-help
No maximum percentage of funding is set, however some degree of self-help is expected. 100% funding will not be awarded.
