Worksop - UC Community Centrepoint

Worksop - UC Community Centrepoint

Some five years ago, two Worksop town centre churches (Methodist and URC) formed a partnership to improve facilities for the local community. Despite the fact that both sets of buildings were in need of desperate repair, they were extremely well used and very popular with the local community.
After much consultation with existing users, the local community and other interested parties, it was clear that a new build would be required and was supported at length by the local community. The partnership had also identified that there were several other interested parties that would make use of a new centre.
The partnership therefore decided to sell half of the 1.25 acres brown-field site and use the proceeds to demolish and rebuild a brand new, custom, community centre.
WREN contributed £50K towards a total project cost of well over £1.6 million. The new facility now includes a new church, a drop in station with community café, ICT learning centre, 2 Large halls with 'rock face' and badminton court, 2 kitchens, vestry and office, quiet room, several meeting rooms, assorted WCs and much more.
