Laughton Recreation Ground

Laughton Recreation Ground

On Monday 5th May the new children’s play area in Laughton en le Morthen was finally opened after several years hard work by the local community. The Laughton Village Design Group carried out a survey of the entire parish in 1999 asking all parishioners what improvements they would like to see made to the local area. Highest on the list was the need for play facilities for the children of the parish. Laughton en le Morthen Parish Council decided to send out questionnaires to all the local houses and speak to the children at the local school to see what they wanted.

In 2006 the final design was scrutinised by the children in both the Junior & Infant schools in Laughton and given the thumbs up. The result of the hard work by the Parish Council and the Laughton Recreation Ground Development Committee (LRGDC) is now there for all to see. The new play area received a £25,000 grant from WREN and a large grant from the Parish Council. With a range of equipment for all ages the play area will be there for years to come and is a real asset to the village.
