Rossington Atlee Ave Play Area

Rossington Atlee Ave Play Area

The new play area on Atlee Avenue, Rossington is now open and being enjoyed by local children. The Radburn Estate Tenants & Residents Association has worked with Doncaster MBC and Groundwork Dearne Valley to develop the plans and install the new play area. The Attlee Avenue site had for a long while been earmarked for play and environmental improvements by both the local community and local organisations. A WREN grant of £25,000 helped the residents raise the funds needed to finally get the play area they needed.

In March 2002 a Planning for Real exercise was undertaken which identified the serious lack of recreational facilities throughout Rossington. Alongside this local people identified the need to supply recreational facilities on the Attlee Avenue site for the young people of the area. The lack of recreational facilities in Rossington had been identified as one of the key causes of anti-social behavior currently faced in the area.

The new play area provides a safe place for local children to play, with swings, see-saws and climbing units. The local school children were there to see the play area opened and try it out for the first time.
