Bothamsall Village Hall Improvements

The village of Bothamsall has approximately 300 residents and is located within the area of Bassetlaw District Council.  Bothamsall has little by way of local amenities to serve the population other than the village hall and has very limited public transport links to access facilities in the nearest towns.  The village hall therefore provides an essential focal point within the village to promote community activities, inform the community, encourage and enable community involvement.

The village hall opens several days and nights per week to promote social activity and is the focus of all village events.  Whilst the village hall had served the community well over many years, it was in need of some modernisation and refurbishment to enable it to successfully continue to meet the need of the village community.

The improvements and refurbishments of the hall included the provision of one level access throughout the building, disabled toilet facilities and access, induction loops, improved toilet ventilation, improved thermal insulation, replacement of heating, replacement, replacement of external doors, provision of security alarm, re-levelling and resurfacing of external hard landscape areas, replacement of carpeting and redecoration, replacement of tables and chairs etc.

Alan Sands, (pictured at the opening event in November 2009) a member of the Bothamsall Village Hall Management Committee was the main contact for WREN and ensured Cheryl the local grant manager was kept up to date with progress on the project.
