Glyn Ceiriog Centre Improvements

The scant facilities of the old community centre in Glyn Ceiriog were much valued and used by many people from 9am to 9pm 7 days a week. Due to its condition it closed in 1999 because it was beyond viable repair and the meeting rooms, work rooms and changing facilities were demolished in 2001.

The village had been without these much used and needed facilities until the new 'Canolfan Ceiriog Centre' proposal was unanimously approved by all Ceiriog Valley residents. They had support form the Valley's MP, County Borough Councillor, AVOW and a number of County Borough Council Officers, the Glyn Ceiriog Community Council and neighboring Town and Community Councils.

The 'Canolfan Ceiriog Centre' became a registered Company and registered Charity status and started their long journey towards finding funding to build a brand new centre.

The project escalated to a value of £654,000.00 and there were many partnerships with many funders involved. The local residents unanimously agreed to have their council tax increased to help pay for the venture. WREN funding went towards the wall, floor and ceiling finishes, sanitary fittings and plumbing.

Canolfan Ceiriog Centre is now up and running
