Castleford - Savile Park Community Building

Savile Park Community Building

On Saturday 15th March John Nash, the Chair of Friends of Castleford Savile Park opened the new Savile Park Community Building. The new building, funded by WREN and Wakefield MDC, provides a new multi purpose facility for the local community to use.

The Friends of Savile Park formed in 2002 to regenerate the park and the facilities in it. Since then they have successfully raised money for new benches and plants throughout the park, a new play area for children, and updated the boundary fences. The new community building is the latest addition to the park and provides a venue for a whole host of activities.

The old community building had fallen in to disrepair and was in desperate need of complete refurbishment. After liaising with the local council the Friends of Savile Park decided on replacing the old building with a new modern design. The new community building includes a small café, toilets, changing facilities and a meeting room that is available for hire. Now complete the building is a great asset to the park and the local community.
