Skipsea - New Village Hall

A new state-of-the-art Village Hall has officially opened in Skipsea, putting an end to cold conditions for users.

The building, on Bridlington Road, replaces the old village hall, a Second World War prefabricated military building, which has now been sold and will be demolished with the land to be used as a building plot. The new site land was donated by the local Parish Council.

Old Prefabricated Village Hall

The hall which took 10 years to plan and 6 months to build includes a main hall, which includes a stage, there is a seminar room for 60 people, a fully equipped catering kitchen and toilets. Outside there is a wildlife area.

The building is fully compliant with the Disability Discrimination Act, is fully insulted and air conditioned and benefits from solar water heating and rainwater recuperation.

The new facility means that the local and surrounding communities have a modern and fit for purpose facility in which they can do things they could not do before. The hall is currently being used for a computer group, keep fit, theatre and indoor bowls.

The main room, The Windsor Hall, has received royal approval, with Her Majesty passing on her best wishes and congratulations.
