Ellesmere Port - Whitby Park Skate Park

Young people are now enjoying a brand new wheels park within Whitby Park in Ellesmere Port. The area has been developed in partnership with local residents, Whitby Park Friends, local schools and Ellesmere Port and Neston Borough Council.

The need for the skate park was identified in 2005 following extensive consultation as there were no skate facilities in the borough which forced young people into neighboring boroughs or onto the shopping areas of the town.

Funding was sought from a number of sources, including a grant of £25,000 from WREN to match against the Council’s own funds of £73,000, £10,000 from Sport England and £10,000 from the Community Safety Partnership.

The skate area was officially opening by the Mayor of Ellesmere Port and Neston in Summer 2008 and is being exceptionally well used.
