Wisbech St Mary - Teenage Play Facilities

Despite the size of Wisbech St Mary, there was previously no play equipment for children to use. Following extensive consultation with the community, they were successful in securing grants to provide the younger members with a play area, however, needed funds to cater to the older youth.

The overall project aimed to provide a playground facility for all age groups within the growing village.  Funding was secured for the 3-8year olds area from the Fenland Play Project and the 8-13 area was funded by Cambridgeshire Play Landscapes.  WREN funding was specifically towards the 13+ area of the playground.

A range of unusual climbing features gives children of all ages the opportunity to test their skills and widen their boundaries in safety.

The completion of the project has provided the village with a fully integrated play area for the whole age spectrum of the community.

At present, they are also eagerly awaiting the completion of their new community centre, which has also benefited from a WREN Grant towards the kitchens.
