Worksop - Oasis Community Centre

Congratulations to the Worksop New Life Community Church who can now sit back (if only for two minutes) and commend themselves for all the hard work and effort they have put into developing and managing their project. The newly renovated and refurbished centre now includes several meeting rooms, a café, computer suite, a fully equipped catering kitchen, toilets with changing facilities and a dedicated kids area.

Kids Room

The outside area has been completely landscaped and includes a childrens play space, sensory garden and a community growing area.

Landscaped Gardens

Proposed users include to name a few Support After Adoption, Social Services, CAP - Christians Against Poverty, St Augustines School, Police, Life Skills Mentoring, Local Youth Services and of course local community groups. The applicants hope the development of this once derelict building will go along way to help improve community spirit and reduce isolation in the local community.

From the very beginning the applicants have worked hard to involve the local community through handing out questionnaires to hosting open days at the derelict site, displaying the proposed plans and encouraging feedback along the way. The applicants have also worked alongside the local schools, MPs, Councillors, social workers, support works, the Residents and Tenants Association, SureStart workers, after school project facilitators, youth services, age concern, the police and community support officers. WREN contributed £50,000 towards the renovation and refurbishment costs in phase 2 of this development.
